What have I been up to lately?

Hey everyone!  Hope you are all doing well.  I am doing quite good actually.  God has been extremely gracious with me these past few weeks.  He has taught me more than I deserve, and probably more than I wanted.  I just wanted to give you guys some updates on what I have been doing and what I will be doing.

So during the DTS, we are required to do a local outreach. I have been given the joy of leading the Roma Church outreach.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romani_people  Every Sunday evening, myself and a few lucky trainees go to Luton and work with a church.  We hang out with all the children and just show them God's love for a few hours.  The girls all hang out and talk and giggle, while the guys play football or yell or just be little rascals.  Quite a few of them don't speak any English and most of them have imperfect English as well.  It has really stretched me in the area of loving people and showing Christ to those I cannot speak to.  I think it will be a good preparation for outreach!  We have another month of doing this before we leave.

2 weekends ago we went to the Big Church Day Out!!  (http://www.bigchurchdayout.com/).  For those Minnesotans out there, it is like a smaller Sonshine Festival.  It was amazing to camp out for the weekend and serve.  We ran the inflatables, bouncy castle, slides, and football.  In the evenings we helped with big responses and handing out leaflets as people left the site.  We had a little free time to see some of the bands and relax, so I saw Rend Collective and All Sons and Daughters!  I saw part of Third Day just for you Rando!  Sunday was more of the same, except for me getting heat exhaustion and being dehydration.  (Yes, mother, I know.)  It was a very good weekend overall with great fun and food.

This past weekend we went to the YWAM England Family Gathering.  It was hosted at the King's Lodge, a YWAM base, a few hours away.  We went camping once again!  This time there was many YWAM people!  It was fantastic to see some of my old friends.  DTS Leaders, fellow DTS trainees (AMIT!  WHY DIDNT I KNOW YOU LIVED THERE?!?), and people I worked with on outreach and lecture phase.  We had some teaching by a wonderful South African woman and lots of fun!  I got to work on MORE inflatables this weekend too!  There was even an 80's themed dress up DISCO.  I sat in the corner and watched, danced for 1 song, got rugburn, and sat by the campfire then.  Success.

THE FUTURE! How exciting.  So.  Some cool news.  I got my visa and my flight for Brazil.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14a-cHVgeIs  And we are learning more and more about what we will be doing!!  We will be leaving June 30th.  So soon.  AAaaa.   We will be working in São Paolo in the Red Light District.  We will be partnering with Gateway, which is like a Christian event thingy.  We will be working in the slums in Rio de Janeiro . Then we will work with the church that Thassia, one my fellow staff, was involved with in Brazil.  We will go to a few other cities in central Brazil too!  Then we will end it all off with going to Baia Formosa, a fishing village, for a month to do community development and teach English.  Then we fly back September 11th and graduate a week after that!  Oh boy.

There is my life for the next 4 months.  Exciting!  I will have more updates in a few weeks to show you all what the trainees have been learning.  Hope you have a great day and God blesses you immensely.
