Eu sou Brasileiro.

So I am now back in England from Brasil.  I am physically here, but my heart is still in Brasil.  I fell in love.  I fell in love with Brasil.  I fell in love with the people, the culture, the cities, the landscapes, the beaches, the language, and everything else.  I desire to be there and I desire to go back.  Eu quero voltar para o Brasil hoje.  Agora.  I hope God's plans for me include Brasil in the future and I will fight for it.  For now however, I am in England.

So Brasil!  God did many things through our DTS.  We saw many miracles and a lot of fruit. We even saw God come through in a huge way with visas for Brasil.  We started the journey in São Paulo for Gateway.  It was a festival/convention for youth.  A lot of Brazilians, some Colombians, and a few other nations came together to worship and seek after God.  Most people were teenagers, but it was great to see such passion for God.  There was were I fell in love with Brasil for the first time.  I have never felt more at home in a culture than I have in Brasil.

Next we went to Rio de Janeiro.  There we stayed in a slum for 2 weeks.  We worked with the church there, painted kids faces, and got to know the community.  We were heartbroken with the country when Brasil lost to Germany as well.  We prayed for people involved with drugs and for many people in the community.  We also helped look after people's kids during the day and did some street evangelism handing out bibles.  We became very close to the church community and made some really good friends.

After that we went back to São Paulo.  In São Paulo we stayed in Cracolândia, or Crackland.  We did a lot of prayer walking and visiting ministries in the city.  We went out late in the night a few times to give out hot chocolate/hot dogs and prayer for the crack addicts and the street.  We also helped a youth service and another church service.  We worked with street kids and kids living in invaded spaces.  We would talk with them, worship with them, and pray for them.  We were able to bless some of the church members by letting them cook for us and have us over to their houses.  We built relationships and a lot of the outreach was relational

Duartina was our next location.  A small city in the state of São Paulo where Thássia's (our outreach leader) parents live!  Mostly we recovered from the spiritual heaviness of the previous two weeks and prepared for the next week.  We did some more street evangelism handing out flyers and painted the church.  We also lead the church service on Sunday!

In Marília we spent almost all our time at a school.  We went at 7 in the morning until lunch and all afternoon speaking in different classes.  Talking about the bible and teaching them English.  We again lead the service on Sunday, and they even had one fully in English with no translation for us!  We built many relationships in the school and really impacted the kids lives there.  They all made us cards and letters thanking us and saying goodbye!

We then left and went to Guarujá.  There we stayed on a sailing boat for 5 days and visited some islands and remote people groups in Brasil.  We spoke at a school, prayed for people, and visited people that did not really get contact with outsiders.  It was a fantastic experience and I loved being on the boat.  We even got to swim/dive in the ocean off the boat!  It was only a short time, but for me it was one of the most memorable and impactful times.  Just seeing a different side of Brasil.

Then we went to our final location.  Baia Formosa.  A place of beauty.  It is a fishing/surfing village in the northeast of Brasil.  We were there for over 3 weeks. We spend a lot of time here building relationships and inspiring the local community and church.  We again visited schools and talked about the bible/God and taught a little English to the classes.  We held a 5 day English seminar at the church.  We gave sermons and testimonies at the church services and held some worship sessions outside in the city.  The relationships and friends we built here will last forever.  When we left everyone cried.  We cried.  They cried.  I even think the animals cried.  None of our team wanted to leave and none of the locals wanted us to leave.  God really spoke to them through us and we left with them having a renewed passion for God and missions.

So that is a quick snippet of what happened in Brasil.  Obviously there is a LOT more stories and specifics.  Because of this, I will be coming to the US from October 13-November 12.  I will be focusing on feeding back what happened in Brasil.  How God moved and how God changed me.  I will also be doing some support raising for prayer, support, and finances.  I'll start talking to people now and making coffee/beer/tea/whathaveyou dates to talk!  As always, feel free to email me or message me asking questions.

Deus te abençoe.  Eu amo vocês.  Te vejo em breve!
